I forgot to say this in the last post – Happy New Year! Let’s talk goals. My goals aren’t intended to be very challenging or difficult to accomplish. I don’t pressure myself too much, (and honestly, that would practically get me nothing done) so these are just some things I expect to do within a certain time period.
1. Read More Genres.
I want to try to keep up with my classics count from last year (I did pretty well, I think!) . . . and read more non-fiction. I am setting the lower limit of 2 (at least).
I had these same goals last year, but at the non-fiction part I failed miserably. I did not read a single non-fiction; which is more than last to last year’s 1.
And, finally: Finally start reading horror. I don’t know why I don’t pick up more horror books. I enjoy horror films, and I love horror in my books, . . . but for some reason I have never read an actual horror book (middle-grade doesn’t count!). It’s weird. Hopefully that’ll change this year.
2. Finish off some series I’ve started recently.
Some of the books I’m planning to get to soon, are: Blue Lily, Lily Blue, A Storm of Swords, The Wise Man’s Fear . . .
3. Pick up more YA/middle-grade fantasy.
There are some series I’ve been dying to get to for years, but for some reason haven’t had the chance to pick up. It’s time to prioritise them now.
Some of them you’ve heard of, like: Inkheart, Artemis Fowl, . . . to name a few. If I don’t pick any – again – this year, delete me.
Other than those, I’m also hoping to get to some backlist YA titles that still sound cool to me (I gave The Raven Boys and Daughter of Smoke and Bone a chance, and they didn’t disappoint! . . . Although Shadow and Bone is another story). These will be harder to fit in but I’m excited to try, nonetheless.
I also hope to be more active in buddy reads and just overall interactions within the book community. And I want to keep doing O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s reading challenges. They were so fun! (In case you missed my enthusiasm in the last post).
So that is it. I have told you everything. Now you will be able to laugh at me when I get none of these done by the end of the year. But let’s hope I get at least some of them done, shall we?
Do share your own bookish goals! How do they compare to last year’s?
