It’s been a good reading month.
The Blood of Olympus: This was a decent conclusion. The book was fun while it lasted. The action was obviously amazing. Reyna has my newfound respect. She is so badass! And I have so many moments to prove that. Her story was horrifying, too. Also, Piper’s secret language skill was so unexpectedly awesome! I’m glad Nico had his happy ending (and the camps, too). I do like his dad: ‘I want you to be the exception.’ (Aw). My FAVOURITE part of the book was the tunnel of Fear and Panic. It has some powerful message that I really appreciated. I’m kind of done with Rick Riordan for now (though I WILL be picking up Trials of Apollo at some point in this lifetime . . . Hopefully) but I am kind of bitter about the series taking so long. It could’ve easily been 4 books – not saying this one was useless but one in particular- *cough* Mark of Athena *cough* was. [The only relevant thing in that was the Athena quest, seriously]. But I realize that may be an unpopular opinion.

The Raven Boys: (I photoshopped the cover in because I’d read a digital copy of this 😅). This was such a delightful surprise. I went into this book knowing nothing, and I’m glad of that! Paranormal isn’t usually my thing so I wouldn’t have picked this otherwise. But boy did I love it! I loved the characters, the creepiness of the story, with all its atmosphere and mystery. And the world. This is easily now one of my favourites of all time. So excited to start the next one. Favourite part: the woods. You can read the full review here.

The Da Vinci Code: This was mostly fun. I liked the mystery and found the mission to decipher the code on time really enjoyable, but was disappointed by the ending. The plot had taken a weird turn, and I had stopped caring just as the conclusion came around. I liked the themes of this, and how some pagan symbols relate to the modern time so well (pentagrams, the deity Venus are so interesting, and PHI) but there were some unnecessary descriptions that slowed down the plot, and I had just lost interest by the time I finished. I wanted who the killer was and how the mission ended (which was: anticlimactic). Favourite part: PHI. Full review is here if you’re interested.
